Map of Waiheke Island: the ferry arriving at Matiatia at the western end, Oneroa, Palm Beach and Onetangi along the north coast, Ostend and Kennedy Point to the south, Whakanewha on the south coast, the zipline inland near Onetangi, Man O' War Bay and Stony Batter at the far eastern end
EcoZip’s zipline is inland from Onetangi, in the middle of the island; Man O’ War Bay is at the far eastern end.

EcoZip, step by step

The trip starts with optional pickup at Matiatia ferry terminal and a short tour of the island’s beaches and vineyards on the way to the zipline site, where you are fitted with a harness. The three lines are dual, so you ride side by side with a friend, over a working vineyard and native bush with views back to Auckland, Rangitoto and the Hauraki Gulf. After the third line a 25-minute guided walk through the forest brings you back to the visitor centre, with the guides talking about the plants and birds.

Rules to know. You must weigh between 30 kg and 125 kg; each person rides on their own line, not in tandem. There is no age limit, but at least one paying adult must zip with and supervise anyone in the booking aged 15 or under, and an adult must sign for anyone under 18. Spectators who are not zipping cannot come along. Closed-toe shoes are required, and in winter warm clothes and a waterproof jacket are advised for the walk. It is not suitable during pregnancy, and alcohol is not allowed.

What guests say. Of the newest 350 GetYourGuide reviews, written between September 2024 and October 2026, 325 give five stars, and many name their guides. One low review, from August 2026, describes a rainy day when the group never met its guide; the trip runs all year, so pack for rain.

Fitting it into a day

EcoZip does not include the ferry. Take an early sailing with a return ferry ticket, from US$37 a person (checked October 2026), zip in the morning from Matiatia, and spend the afternoon at Oneroa or Onetangi. Forest Flight suits a day at the eastern end instead: Man O’ War asks you to check in 15 minutes before at its Experiences Centre in Man O’ War Bay, and recommends 1.5 hours for lunch or 2.5 to 3 hours with a wine tasting at its tasting room afterwards; you cannot zip after drinking.

The one-day itinerary has a zipline day, and things to do without a car the rest of the island.

EcoZip’s lines, length, pickup, walk and rules are from its GetYourGuide listing, read in US dollars on 29 October 2026, with the review tally from its newest 350 reviews; Forest Flight’s lines, boardwalk, length, limits, price and check-in from Man O’ War’s booking page; the ferry ticket from its GetYourGuide listing.
