Waiheke Ferry Cost
Waiheke ferry cost from Auckland: NZ$65 Standard return, Priority, Reserve, the afternoon-only Off-Peak fare, child and family fares, and the car ferry (Oct 2026).
A Standard adult return on Fullers360’s Waiheke ferry is NZ$65, and NZ$29 for a child aged 5 to 15; under-5s travel free (October 2026). Priority, NZ$75, books a set sailing and boards ahead of the Standard queue, and Reserve, NZ$104, is a separate ferry with its own vessel. The cheapest return, the NZ$48.50 Off-Peak deal, only works if you leave Auckland from 1 pm and Waiheke from 7 pm. On GetYourGuide, Fullers360’s return ticket is from US$37 a person (checked October 2026).

Every Fullers360 fare, return
| Ticket | Adult | Child (5 to 15) | Family (2 + 2) | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | NZ$65 | NZ$29 | NZ$138 | Walk-up, any sailing, valid a year |
| Priority | NZ$75 | NZ$32 | NZ$162 | Book your sailing; board ahead of the Standard queue |
| Reserve | NZ$104 | NZ$104 | — | A separate ferry; valid only for the sailing you book |
| Off-Peak | NZ$48.50 | NZ$21 | NZ$103 | Leave Auckland from 1 pm and Waiheke from 7 pm |
Under-5s travel free with a paying adult on Standard, Priority and Off-Peak. One-way fares are half the return on Standard (NZ$32.50) and Priority (NZ$37.50); Reserve one way is NZ$60. Fares from Fullers360’s Waiheke page, read in October 2026.
Which to buy. For a day out leaving in the morning, the Standard return is the one: it works on any sailing, so you can stay for dinner. Priority is worth the extra NZ$10 on summer weekends, when the Standard queue is long; a guest in April 2026 joined the queue at 9:15 for a 10:00 sailing and found it three lanes deep. The Off-Peak fare suits an afternoon and evening on the island, not a full day. Reserve is a seasonal, pre-booked boat, from Piers 13 and 14 in Auckland and Pier 3 at Matiatia, for a set time each way.
Buying it on GetYourGuide
| Ticket | What it includes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Return ferry ticket, Fullers360 | Return Walk-up crossing, valid a month | US$37 |
| Ferry and hop-on hop-off bus, Fullers360 | Return Walk-up and a day on the Western Explorer | US$59 |
| Waiheke Reserve, one way, Fullers360 | A pre-booked sailing on the separate service | US$34 |
Prices a person, checked October 2026. If you will ride the Western Explorer, the bundle is the better buy: on Fullers360’s own site it is NZ$104, against NZ$65 plus NZ$71 bought separately.

When the ferries run
Fullers360 runs up to 22 sailings a day on peak days. On weekdays the first leaves Auckland at 06:00 and the last at 23:45; at weekends and on public holidays sailings start at 07:00. The return ferry ticket’s listing gives the evening departures from Waiheke: until 00:30 on weekdays and Saturdays, and 23:00 on Sundays and public holidays. Bikes and scooters can go on board, space permitting.
Bringing a car
Cars cross on SeaLink, whose vehicle ferry runs from Half Moon Bay in East Auckland to Kennedy Point on Waiheke, and takes foot passengers too; it shows sailings and fares in its booking page. Auckland Transport’s 501 bus links Kennedy Point with Oneroa and Matiatia.
Going often
Fullers360 sells the Waiheke Weekly Pass, 8 or 10 trips within 14 days, from NZ$129 in its app, and monthly and annual commuter passes.
The bus guide covers getting around once you land, and the one-day itinerary times a day from the 9:00 ferry.
Fares, ticket types, sailings and passes are from Fullers360’s Waiheke page; the evening departures and the Reserve piers from the Fullers360 listings on GetYourGuide, read in US dollars on 29 October 2026; the queue report from the newest 350 GetYourGuide reviews of the return ferry ticket; the car ferry from SeaLink; the 501 bus from Auckland Transport’s Waiheke timetable effective 25 October 2024. All read in October 2026.
